Grief
We think that grief will be sadness and longing, pain and heartache, and it is all those things.
But grief is also a monster sitting on your chest,
it’s an inability to breathe.
It’s an aching void inside.
Grief is the whiplash of feeling fine one minute and inconsolable the next.
Grief is unpredictable.
Grief is finding her sitting on my sofa with the blue blanket pulled over her.
It’s hearing her voice and seeing her smile.
Grief is feeling your body as a million little pieces being held together by string.
Some days it holds you together and others it leaves you to scatter like children’s building blocks on the floor.
Grief is not knowing when or if you’ll start to feel better.
Grief is an inability to move, or ask your friends when you know you need help.
Grief is waiting for something else.
Grief is the life you know will never be.
